Progress of LNER Brake Pigeon Van 70759  -  2012
January  2012
The transformation of BG(P) 70759 into a Brake 3rd (BTK) began with the re-panelling interior of the luggage
end using the original planks after many hours of paint removal, hole plugging and repairs, two sections have
been completed on the town side and enough planks have been prepared for one section on the railway side.

The construction of the first section of the new side framing for the passenger section has been progressing.
First section (known as T1) panelled just waiting
for the lower plank and bottom rail.

The working platforms and access steps were repositioned ready for the fitting the first section of the new
passenger frames.

The far section has been cover over as the
restoration has been completed except for the
new teak for the lower panels.

The frames are fitted.

March 17th  2012
The frames are fitted.
Temporary lower plywood panel fitted, top teak
panels are being prepared and will be fitted
shortly along with the glass
May 10th  2012
Section R1 panelling is complete and section R2 is progressing well.
July 21st/22nd  2012 (peep behind the scenes weekend)
The covers are removed showing off the freshly varnished top panels on luggage end.
And the first of the top panels fitted in to
the new frames for the passenger end.

The first of the passenger doors is hung.
November 11th  2012
Corridor glass, temporary drop lights and all top panels fitted, also luggage doors re-hung.
On the inside the match boarding on the corridor side has been fitted, stained and the first coats of varnish applied.
