CAN YOU HELP?

There are many ways you can help with our current and future projects. We have a programme of detailed improvements to a number of the carriages in the SVR’s Gresley teak train. And we are currently engaged is a major project to restore a 1940 GWR ‘TOAD’ brake van back to operational condition. Help is needed in various ways – financial, practical, skills and knowledge. Practical skills range from knowing how to use specialist tools to having an understanding and practical knowledge of materials. Not all railway restoration work is ‘exciting. So an ability just ‘to get stuck in’ when there are less glamorous tasks to be done is also invaluable. The main ‘fringe benefit’ is enjoying good company while working as a volunteer.

All the work we do these days is on behalf of the SVR Charitable Trust. Ways of helping include:

• Making donations to the Trust either in general or towards specific projects.
• Sponsoring parts for particular projects. Prices come in all sizes and can range from £3000 for a complete compartment in a carriage to £1 for a one foot length of teak beading – with a full range of options in between.
• Donating a regular sum by standing order. For this please contact us at the address below, and we will then send you a form with the necessary details.

     All supporters will have our profound thanks and the appreciation of future generations. Sponsors and donors can see progress via the LNER (SVR) Coach Fund’s website and the occasional newsletter. If you feel able to help the projects in a practical way, we always need extra hands to undertake carpentry and general handiwork. To give practical help you will need to be a member of the Severn Valley Railway Guarantee Company. We can give you advice on this if necessary.
