GNR 2701 has been declared the overall winner in the
Heritage Railway Association's carriage and wagon contest.
This is a prestigious national award and is not just in the best restored coach category,
but has won the award for the best restored item of all rolling stock
(ie coach, wagon and other powered rolling stock - excluding locomotives).
The judges described the project as “a period restoration to the highest standards”.
